Following a leak in the roof, Northampton’s Guildhall was left with some white salt staining inside which needed to be removed.

Using a specialist method we cleaned the hard to reach areas inside the building. This involved layering latex over the salt staining and removing both the latex and stains at the same time.

Renovated all statues, gargoyles and finials and covered all with six coats of limewash – effectively a shelter coat which will ensure the stone looks pristine for long and, ultimately, giving the statues a longer life.

Replaced a dragon and the elbow of St George on one of the Guildhall’s most intricate statues. This meant matching the stone (in this case, Haltham Park Bath stone) before replicating and recarving these delicate areas in our workshop and fitting them on to the statue.
